terms

these terms cover the hosted version of heycapy at app.heycapy.xyz. by making an account and using it, you agree to them. if you host heycapy yourself, none of this applies to you. that code is under the mit license, and you can do what the license allows. how i handle your data is on the privacy page.

• you sign in with your email. keep access to it, because that is how you get in.
• you're responsible for what happens in your account.
• please use one account per person. you must be old enough to agree to this where you live.
• what you put in heycapy (buckets, items, notes) is yours. i only keep it so the app works for you. you can download all of it any time in tweaks → account → download my data.

• i work hard to make your reminders arrive, but i can't promise they always will. email, push, telegram and the others depend on services i don't control. please don't rely on heycapy alone for things where a missed reminder could really hurt, like medicine or a legal deadline. the status page shows if something is down.
• capy is an ai and it makes mistakes. it can add the wrong date or pick the wrong bucket. check what it did. to answer you, your message and the parts of your data it needs are sent to the ai company that runs it, which is google for now.

• capy credits pay for messages to capy. each message uses one credit. they don't expire, you can't transfer them to someone else, and they can't be exchanged for cash.
• prices are on the pricing page. prices in rupees are fixed amounts, not a live conversion. if i change a price, it only applies to future purchases, and i'll email you first.
• payments are handled by dodo payments, who act as the merchant of record. they take your payment, add the taxes that apply and send you the receipt. their terms apply to the payment itself.
• refunds are limited: within 7 days, and only when the amount is more than $20. the details are on the refunds page.
• the free credits new accounts get, and the ones the getting started guide gives, are a gift. i can change how many there are, but i won't take back credits you already have.

please don't:

• use heycapy for anything illegal, or to send spam or harass anyone.
• try to break it, overload it, or get into other people's accounts.
• make many accounts to collect free credits.
• use webhooks to point heycapy's server at addresses it shouldn't reach.

if you do, i can limit or close your account. if that happens, the refund rules still apply.

• i may change these terms or the hosted app. for anything that matters, i'll email you a few days before it changes. using heycapy after that means you accept the new terms.
• you can stop any time. delete your account yourself in tweaks → account. it removes everything, including credits you haven't used, and copies in the nightly backups are gone within 7 days. there's no refund for credits you still have, so please use them first.
• if i ever have to shut the hosted version down, for money or any other reason, i'll give you at least 30 days. new purchases stop from day 1 and the refund rules stay the same. use your credits in that time, and if you find yourself stuck with some left, tell me and i'll try my best to refund them.

the hosted version is run by one person and comes as it is, with no guarantee that it works without errors or interruptions. as far as the law allows, i'm not responsible for losses that come from using it, and if something does go wrong, what i owe you is limited to what you paid me in the last 12 months.
